Name: Corrine
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Appearance: The girl is extremely lanky, about 5’ 10”, rather gawky-looking, as if she hasn’t yet gained complete control of her body. This is an illusion. She has grace and strength that you wouldn’t expect from someone her size. She has short-cut dark brown hair, almost black, while her eyes are a dark silver-gray color. Her features are average, not too plain, but not drop-dead gorgeous either, and her skin is a weathered-looking tan.
Personality Then: Corrine was a bright, happy-go-lucky yet intelligent young girl. She was almost the epitome of a blissful childhood, completely unaware of the evils of the world, almost immaturely oblivious to those kinds of things. She was extremely positive, and it was very hard to get her down. She didn't have much of a temper, and couldn't hold on to grudges for very long. When you did anger her, however, she wasn’t very explosive. More than likely she’s fuming in her head, but she’ll plot revenge another day. She loved making people laugh, and would often go out of her way to do so. Patient in the extreme, she could put up all but the whiniest of people. She always seemed to be smiling, even if it hurt to do so. Corrine was very opinionated, however, and often had very interesting views on some things, probably due to her synesthesia. She loved playing games, and just playing in general.
Personality Now: She has matured immensely, and isn’t half as loud as she used to be. She now prefers to listen before speaking flippantly. She has a darker outlook on life, but appreciates the brighter side much more than before. She has developed a highly refined sense of sarcasm, and exercises it often. Her pateintence is still there, but it is almost nonexistent when it comes to fools. Her temper hasn’t changed much, although her idiocy tolerance has lowered.
Earth History: Corrine was born to a large, middle-class family in 1906, the fourth child of seven. When she was about six years old, they realized that she had an interesting condition called synesthesia. Or, more specifically, color synesthesia, which meant that every individual letter and number had a color associated with it in her head. This means that plain black letters or numbers would appear as that color to her.
She lived an average life, although she continually drove her parents up the wall with her carefree antics. Then World War I began, changing Corrine’s life. She was an avid supporter of the war, sneaking downstairs at night to hear her parents discuss the events and hearing of some of the bigger events of the time. Although she didn’t necessarily understand some of the events, that didn’t stop her from hanging on every word. She became much more adventurous after hearing glorified versions of victories overseas. She began to wander outside much more often, pretending she was a soldier hunting down the hated enemy. One day her wanderings away from home took her to a nearby bar, where several drunks decided to have some fun with the twelve-year-old girl. When they were done, they left her body in an alley to be discovered the next day.
Middle World History: Corrine was born to an unmarried couple in the poorer district of Bethanos, and her father left after several years. This time, she didn't have her synesthesia. Her mother was nice enough, however, determined that her daughter wouldn’t make the same mistakes that she had, always sure that Corrine was meant for better things. The woman worked hard to put food on the table, something Corrine helped to do with the occasional stolen loaf of bread, courtesy of her friends’ teaching. But her mother was attacked by a Soulless, and with only a small gift with plants, lost, leaving Corrine on her own. She manages to maintain the small apartment they lived in, and is quite capable of feeding herself and finding money through some honorable ways and some less-than-honorable.
Ability Suggestion: Corrine’s ability is something kind of like the synesthesia she had on Earth. She can see the life energy, or force, of living things and control them. Every living thing’s energy has a color, and the closer she is to that person emotionally, the more specific the color. For example, she always saw her mother’s force as a pale butter yellow, while she sees herself as a bright silver. She can control some of this energy, such as placing some of hers in a tired or sick person to help them regain vitality, although it wouldn’t cure the sickness, just give the person some energy back. She can use it to heal some small injuries, like cuts or bruises, but she doesn’t have enough control with it yet to do more. The force has more effect in healing if the colors are similar, almost like blood types. If she takes energy to weaken someone, however, she has to store it in her body, until she either gives it back or incorporates in inside of her. This extra force energizes her, but forces her organs and other such systems to work harder, and if she’s not careful, she can injure or kill herself if she’s not careful.
